Assessment

Your assessment is essential to ensuring you leave the course fully confident and ready to run your first class. You will be assessed in two parts: a multiple choice theory element online before your face to face class, and a practical element on the second day of your face to face class.

Theory assessment: You will have one hour to complete thirty multiple choice questions. You will be given an online log in when you enrol to complete these questions in your own time before the face to face workshop. This is an open book test and you will be required to answer all questions correctly. All questions relate to your course book which you will have read beforehand. You will have three opportunities to complete this test and will receive feedback after each attempt.

Practical assessment: The second part of your assessment is a short presentation on the second day of the workshop. You will be presenting to the group and the assessment consists of conducting one warm up of any variety of five minutes, a five minute chair based routine, and a five minute free form class. In the practical we work to support and help you feel fully confident in what you are presenting - fully ready to go out to run classes straight away.

What to bring to your face to face workshop:

The face to face and assessments involve light to moderate physical activity. You should wear gym clothes, but may wish to bring a coat for in between when we're not working out. Bring a water bottle and a notebook for your session plans. Most venues we try to locate close to food options however you may choose to bring your own lunch as well as this is not provided.

Recognition of prior learning: Because of the nature of the course and the advantages of sharing ideas and knowledge in the workshop, there is no recognition of prior learning available.

What Happens if I Fail the Assessments?

We will work to support you as much as possible to help you achieve competency in the course however we must be satisfied that you are fully capable of delivering fun and safe classes. If you fail your first attempt at the online assessment, you will be given guidance and another two attempts to pass. We will contact you to talk through any difficulties you might be having and to help you through this process. The theory is a hurdle assessment to allow you to attend the face to face workshop. In your face to face workshop assessments, we provide you with your marking rubric at the start of the workshop so you're aware of what you need to do to pass. If you do not meet the pass requirements in your first assessment, you will have a chance to present again at the end of class. Your trainer will give robust feedback and let you know what is required to come up to standard. If this is still not satisfactory, you will be given the opportunity to attend another workshop on a later date within 12 months, subject to availability. You will need to pass in this second workshop as there will not be a reassessment opportunity after this time.
